About

Meet David Zumaya

David has a long history of working with the community. With career experience in nonprofit and business organizations. Photography, marketing, and community service have been the foundation of his expertise. The last decade has focused on digital marketing.  David returned to pursue a master’s degree in internet marketing and to teach at colleges and universities.  David is actively involved in the community and is a member of numerous local chambers of commerce and business associations. He has been awarded several community awards, including “Volunteer of the Year,” “Chamber Member of the Year,” and “Business Community Member of the Year.”  Most recently, David received the Small Business Administration SBDC Small Business Champion Award 2025

A San Diego native, David moved to North County 25 years ago and recognized a need to bring together and support the Local communities.  This is what led to the creation of My San Diego North County social media channels and the North County Business Expo. The goal has been to bring together the various San Diego North County cities, communities, businesses, nonprofits, and events into a single online community. We were thrilled to expand the expo in 2024 to include our inaugural North County Business Magazine.  Now known as Cafecito Business Magazine, the magazine features a business directory of all its online members, as well as featured business and community stories.  Published in spring and fall, the magazine supports our annual events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and Women’s History Month.  Please consider supporting the magazine with your advertisement and business directory listing.

Working with the community and the launch of the “My San Diego North County” website led to the creation of the “Cafecito” business networking groups in 2016.  Cafecito Business Networking events have grown from the first location in Oceanside at San Luis Rey Bakery to 16 monthly events.  The goal of Cafecito events is to bring communities together and support local businesses and nonprofit professionals.  Cafecito events are always free for guests to join.  We are very proud to have the support of the Small Business Development Center, which has been supporting Cafecito events by providing resources and sharing information on the SBDC website and social media. All SBDC clients are invited to attend Cafecito events at no cost.

What is new for David?  We are ready to launch our non-profit, the Latino Business Coalition.  The non-profit organization’s mission is to support local business communities from the South Bay to North County, including our Latino communities and organizations. We will be reaching out to numerous partners and foundations for support, including grants and funding, to ensure the success of our mission.

I will continue to move forward to help our community be the best possible, from North County to the South Bay.  Please join me at our next Cafecito event, Business Expo, online directory, and Cafecito Business Magazine.
